Hospitals Endorse Senator Shelby in Re-election Bid

The Alabama Hospital Association announced this week its endorsement of Sen. Richard Shelby in his bid for re-election to the United States Senate.

“Sen. Shelby has been a strong voice for Alabama in the Senate and is considered to be one of the most influential leaders in Washington,” said Don Williamson, M.D., president of the Alabama Hospital Association.  “His leadership, including his current position on the appropriations committee, is a result of his hard work and commitment.  We are endorsing Sen. Shelby because of his tireless efforts on behalf of the state’s health care community.

“Hospitals across Alabama have benefited from Sen. Shelby’s support and willingness to work with health care leaders,” added Dr. Williamson.  “As health care continues to evolve, it’s important to have a committed leader in the Senate, working for Alabama’s hospitals, the 84,000 people they directly employ and the 3 million patients they serve each year.”

The Alabama Hospital Association is a statewide trade organization representing and supporting more than 100 hospitals in their mission of providing quality health care to all Alabamians.
